Panthers take extra inning to defeat E-B-F

The Knoxville Panther varsity softball team held a lead at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (EBF) until the bottom of the seventh when the Rockets tied the game at four. Knoxville responded by doubling its score in the top of the eighth to beat the South Central Conference rival, 8-4.

The Panthers got the victory through small ball, as 15 of their 16 hits were singles. Emma Dunkin, who went 3-for-5, had the only extra base hit for Knoxville with a double.

Reilly Finarty and Jadyn Streigle each went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Dunkin scored three of the Panthers’ runs. Olivia Maasdam and Ciara Heffron each had two hits in the game.

Ashlyn Finarty pitched a complete game, striking out two and giving up 11 hits in eight innings.
