Pella, PC split double header

Devin Haveman struck out 10 Pella High batters as the Pella Christian Eagles took game one of a double header, 5-3.

The Dutch got seven hits in game one, with Nick Grandia, Nick DeJong and Jason Knox each with two. Knox’s two hits were doubles and Drew Hillman added a double. Those were all of Pella’s extra base hits.

Blake Veenstra went 2-for-3 for the Eagles, including a home run and four RBI. Matthew Bokhoven went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Dan Jungling, Luke Mulder and Jack VerMeer each got two hits and Kyle Branderhorst got a hit.

In game two, Pella came back to win 4-1 behind the strong pitching of Knox, who struck out 11 in a complete game effort.

Branderhorst had the Eagles’ sole RBI, with Mulder, Haveman and Jungling each getting hits. Miller, Pollock and Grandia each got hits for the Dutch.
