The Twin Cedars varsity softball team put up a strong fight, but could not overcome Bluegrass Conference powerhouse Wayne Wednesday night. The Falcons won 10-0.
“We competed well for four innings, but a four-run fifth put it out of reach,” Head Coach Zach Dunkin said.
Grace Bailey took the loss, surrendering eight runs while striking out three. Rylee Dunkin had a single and a stolen base.
“The team had five hits, but we just couldn’t string enough together to move runners. It showed us what we need to work on.” Dunkin continued. Those who also got hits were Bailey, Brooke Roby, Ali Mockenhaupt and Jetta Sterner.
The Sabers are set to cross the county to face arch rival, Melcher-Dallas, tonight (June 18). They will host Orient-Macksburg Friday night, June 19, and then travel to North Mahaska for a mid-day game on Saturday.
