The Pleasantville varsity softball team started its season with a 13-1 loss at Van Meter Monday night.
In 16 at-bats, the Trojans had four hits. Bridgette McKinney had a single, double and Pleasantville’s only RBI on the night. She drove in Faith VanderHart in the top of the fourth. Amber McKinney also had a single.
Van Meter jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first, then piled on two more runs for each of the next three innings.
The Trojans will move on to play at Sigourney Tuesday night, June 16.
