Pella Regional Health Center is accepting homemade facemasks. Follow the link for the preferred method sewing fabric masks. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is not accepting them at this time.
“We know there are several patterns of homemade masks (some are not acceptable from an infection control standpoint),” Amanda Drost with PRHC said. “We chose a specific pattern that will have an insert for a filter to help protect any person using these fabric masks. CDC does allows fabric facial protection as a last resort due to the shortages of personal protective equipment that are being experienced across the United States and in Iowa. We are not facing a shortage right now, but want to be prepared in this evolving situation for the protection of our patients, staff, and community.”
