The Knoxville Police Department dealt with a missing girl this week that fortunately had a happy ending. Police Chief Dan Losada reminds parents of the importance of knowing who their children’s friends are, monitor their social media – including knowledge of logins and passwords.

The department received a report of the missing girl on March 11, when she did not come home from school. Officers performed an “extensive search” according to Losada. This included a strong number of shares of her photo and information on social media.

She was located on March 12, in town, safe with no reported injuries.

Knowledge of your child’s social media information can help police in their search, should your child go missing.
