The only action item on Monday night’s regular Knoxville City Council agenda was the new agreement with the Marion County Humane Society.
This item had previously been tabled. According to the new agreement, the City will no longer pay MCHS a fee per animal taken to the shelter. Rather, on July 1, the City will pay MCHS $25,000. On July 1, 2021, the City will pay $30,000. Each subsequent year, on July 1, that flat fee will increase by 2 percent.
In other council action, David Hoke and Pennie Sommar were each appointed to the Civil Service Board. A closed session was held regarding real estate. City Manager Aaron Adams reports that no action was taken following the closed session.
