Matthew Kaufman of Pleasantville has earned the right to take part in the State Wrestling Tournament after a second place finish at the district event.
Pleasantville High hosted the Class 1A, District 4 meet. Kauffman defeated Chad Kent of Wayne to earn his spot. He fell to Ryan Snell in the first place match.
Kauffman, who is 36-5 on the season, is scheduled to take on 42-0 Chet Buss in the first round of 285 competition at Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday, Feb. 20. Best wishes in the State Tournament, Matthew!
In other Trojan wrestling action, Devon Luing placed third at 106; Trevor Nickel placed fourth at 126; Kitt Lundy placed third at 145; Jacob Hiemstra earned third place at 160; and Alex Swanson placed third at 195.
