Knoxville had six wrestlers competing at Saturday’s Class 2A, District 5 competition on their home mats. Unfortunately, the season came to a close for all six wrestlers who competed strongly for the black and gold.

Marco Alejo finished in third place at 106 after a technical fall over Easton Padilla of Van Meter at 106.

Luke Spaur also took home third place at 120. He defeated Brodie Connor in the third place match.

Another third place finish came home for the Panthers at 160 when Nash Linsley pinned Alan Angle of Eddyville in 48 seconds.

Gavin Montalvo pinned another Albia wrestler, Gavin Shaw, in 3:27 to take home third place at 170.

Knoxville’s other district qualifiers placed fourth. Gabe Gordon lost a major decision in the third place match at 126. Hayden Hatch, 132, also placed fourth following a fall in the third place match.
