The Knoxville Panther wrestling team took third place at the 2020 Southern Iowa Classic. They scored 117.5 points, just behind Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and champion Fort Madison. There were 14 teams participating.
Gavin Montalvo had the best finish of all Panthers, as he was the champion at 170. He scored 26 team points, with falls in all three rounds.
Gabe Gordon (126) placed second. He fell just short of the title with a 9-7 decision in favor of his opponent. He scored 19 team points.
A third place finish at 160 was achieved by Nash Linsley. Linsley scored 20 points for the Panthers. Following a bye in the first round, Linsley scored a fall in the quarterfinal round before falling short in the semifinal round. He came back and scored another fall in the third place match.
There were two fourth-place finishers for the Panthers, Marco Alejo at 113 and JJ Beaver at 138. Alejo went 2-2 on the day and scored 10 points. Beaver also went 2-2 and scored 13.5 points.
Hayden Hatch placed fifth at 132, Koby Gordon placed fifth at 145, Jax Bellon placed sixth at 152 and Jared Landsperger placed sixth at 182.
