Pleasantville High School hosted its annual Cancer Crushers event on Friday, Jan. 31. It raised $6,703.75 for the American Cancer Society. With Friday’s total, Pleasantville has raised $60,839.58 for ACS since the 2009-10 school year.

The evening included a silent auction, a free will donation by Burgett’s Barbecue (the pork loin was gone within the first hour, according to Dena Burgett), t-shirt sales, buttons, ribbons and the schools’ share of the admission price to the games.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams wore their pink-themed uniforms purchased by Kim Friday’s family for these events. A new American flag was unveiled, which unfurls from the gym’s rafters, at the event as well. This was purchased by Braidy and Trey “Boo” Friday, in honor of their mother, Kim.
