Bellon, DeJong earn first place at JV meet


Knoxville’s Kade Bellon (125-129) and Tristan DeJong (130-138) each earned first place in their respective classes at the Southern Iowa JV Classic on Feb. 1.

Bellon was only on the mat for a little over a minute through three rounds, as he quickly earned falls over each opponent. DeJong earned falls in the first two rounds before winning via decision in the third.

Sean Collins (132-135) earned second place. After losing in the first round, Collins won the next two by fall.

Trenton Kingrey earned third place in 162-170, Steven Metcalf earned third in 182-186, Kaden Rodgers earned third in 132-134. Fourth place finishes were earned by Cael Hollinrake (149-153) and Austin Koons (157-158).

The Panthers host a meet tonight (Feb. 4).
