Twin Cedars High School held its annual Coaches vs. Cancer event Tuesday night. They were able to raise around $3,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Since our original post, a matching donation was received. Twin Cedars’ total is now at $5,660.
Fundraisers on the night included t-shirt sales, silent auction, free will donation soup supper, pass the bucket challenge and more. This is the ninth year the school has taken part in such an event.
TCHS Principal Dave Roby gives the credit for the night’s success to the generous sponsors, as well as Trish McCarty, Brenda Dunkin, Andrea Moore and Kim Roby.
“Once again, the Twin Cedars Athletic Booster Club did a outstanding job of putting our Cancer night together,” Dave Roby said. “Thank you to all who donated to such a worthy cause.”
Kim Roby, who survived a stage one breast cancer scare, was also recognized. The school district’s curriculum director is now cancer-free. She said the real honor goes to her family, who helped her get through it.
“I’m surrounded by good people,” Kim Roby said.
