The Pella City Council is preparing for the next phase of the Oskaloosa Street Corridor improvements. An ad hoc committee was appointed at Tuesday’s regular council meeting.
Members of the committee will include Council Member Lynn Branderhorst, Planning & Zoning Commissioner Ann Visser, Business Owner Chad Versteeg, Business Owner Craig Ford, Citizen Tony Bokhoven and City Staff Mike Nardini and Bryce Johnson.
Also appointed Tuesday night were Julie Mueller to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Chris Meyers to the Community Services Commission.
In other council action, the first reading of a change to an ordinance regarding minors in drinking establishments was approved. The change would allow anyone under the age of 21 to be inside such a business unless less than half of its gross income is from the sale of alcoholic beverages.
The provision would not apply to the following:
(1) holders of a class “C” beer permit only; or
(2) holders of a class “B” beer permit who also hold a special class “A” beer permit
when the person under twenty-one (21) years of age is accompanied on-premises by
a parent or legal guardian who is (21) years of age or older, and only until 9:00 p.m.
Persons under twenty-one (21) years of age shall not be allowed to enter or remain
upon the licensed premises after 9:00 p.m.
