Alvis T. Sayee of Fargo, N.D., is facing charges in Marion County for allegedly enticing a minor over the weekend.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells the Tribune that the department received a report of a 13-year-old female runaway. The police were tipped off that she might be with the suspect at the Super 8 motel.
Police checked the hotel, but neither was found. A little over two hours later, an officer with the Carlisle Police Department found the suspect vehicle and performed a traffic stop. The suspect and the runaway were in the vehicle. Sayee was charged with harboring a runaway. Further investigation by the KPD led to more charges being filed, including two counts of third-degree sexual abuse and enticing a minor with the intent of committing a sexual act upon or exploitation of said minor.
Losada declined to comment on the condition of the minor or to provide further information on the case, as the investigation is ongoing. The Chief encourages parents to be aware of whom their children are in communication with online and the nature of their discussions. It’s okay to intervene, he added, and if you believe the situation warrants, contact local law enforcement.
Sayee was booked into the Marion County Jail. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
