The Christmas spirit has arrived at Webb Shadle Library, with a number of events planned for the coming weeks.

Mrs. Ashley Robinson, art teacher at Pleasantville Elementary, has been hosting students for art lessons after school. Artwork created by children through sixth grade will be on display during regular library hours Dec. 4-11. A free will donation will be taken at the door. On Friday, Dec. 6, from 4-6 p.m., the library will host an open house. Proceeds benefit the library.

A toy drive is underway to benefit the children of Marion County. The library and city hall each have drop boxes for new, unwrapped toys to be collected. The toys are regularly taken to The Well in Pella, which will benefit children throughout the county – including Pleasantville. Toys will be collected through Dec. 14.

On Dec. 14, the library will host a children’s holiday party at 10 a.m. Treats, crafts, a special story time and Mrs. Claus will be on hand.

Speaking of Mrs. Claus, through Dec. 17, children and families can stop in at the library and write a letter to Santa. Wish lists, or just a note to say hello will be accepted. Stationary and a special mailbox for rush delivery will be provided. Be sure to write your return address legibly so Santa can read it.
