Byron Richard Geppert, 25, of Des Moines, pled guilty to operating while intoxicated and possession of methamphetamine following an Oct. 25 arrest in Knoxville. Officer Kyle Eastwood stated that he responded to a call regarding a shoplifter at Walmart and found Geppert driving the suspect vehicle. Geppert failed to have proof of insurance, Eastwood observed drug paraphernalia including bags of meth in the vehicle and the suspect appeared to be under the influence, court records say. Geppert admitted to have smoked a bowl of meth earlier in the day, Eastwood added. A sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 5.
