Dutch gain ground in men’s cross country regional rankings

PELLA — The Central College men’s cross country team picked up one spot in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region poll released Tuesday, going up to No. 8.

Wartburg College leads the way from the No. 1 spot. Carleton College (Minn.) jumped up to the No. 2 spot with the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at No. 3. Other American Rivers Conference schools in the rankings include No. 5 Luther College, No. 6 Loras College and No. 9 Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Central was fourth at the American Rivers Conference Championships last weekend in Dubuque. Central flipped spots with Nebraska Wesleyan in the regional rankings after beating them in the conference meet.

The Dutch were previously team champions at the Central Invitational and Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell in September.

Central’s top-seven runners will be in Waverly on Saturday, November 16 for the NCAA Division III Central Regional at 11 a.m.
