Pella Christian football ends season at 5-5

The Pella Christian Eagle football team finished its 2019 campaign Friday night, as Van Meter bested them 38-12 to move on in the playoffs.

Dan Jungling threw for a touchdown and rushed for another in the game. He finished with 129 yards through the air and 44 on the ground. Jack Vermeer caught the touchdown, good for nine yards. Vermeer finished with 34 receiving yards, tying him with Bennet Spronk for the most in the game. Luke Mulder had 21, Eric Mulder 18, David Willis 2 and Jase Amelse 30. Amelse added 69 yards rushing.

Willis led tacklers with 13, followed by Amelse with 8, and Luke Mulder with 7.5. Drew Gettings had the team’s only sack in the game. Geetings and Eric Mulder each had a fumble recovery.

The Eagles went undefeated in their district this season. They amassed a total of 3,456 offensive yards and 44 offensive touchdowns in the 10 games they played. The defense finished with 17 turnovers (10 fumble recoveries, seven interceptions).
