Three children were recognized as Kid Captains at the Oct. 26 Central College home football game.

Stella, Makayla and Marijka were recognized at halftime of the game. Their day began around 11:30, with lunch at the Central Market, at which they received bags filled with gifts from Central, including gear, sideline passes and more. They were able to meet the players and share their stories as well. During the pregame, they joined the players for the coin toss.

This was all part of Central College’s Dance Marathon promotion. On March 7, from 12-8 p.m., the marathon will be held to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The Central Dance Marathon sponsors seven children in the Pella area, a tradition that began in 2010.

Sydney Rants, co-executive director of the marathon at Central, said the group has 34 sponsors already. Last year, they raised over $11,000. They hope the 2020 event is even larger.

Rants said the captains enjoyed their time hanging out with the Central College students.
