Winter came early, as Marion County’s first snowfall occurred on Oct. 28. Luckily, the Secondary Road Department was well-prepared.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian reports that sheds are full of salt and sand. When we spoke with him, workers were 90 percent done with checking equipment.
The County had already put its plows and graders away for the season. Winter equipment had been checked and snow plows were being moved to the shops around the county from which drivers work.
“We’re ready,” Christian said. A “bunch” of snow plows were rebuilt prior to winter’s first strike. The County also purchased some new trucks and plows for the season.
