As the holiday season approaches, are you worried about what to feed a family member or friend who needs gluten free food? The Pella Public Library is hosting Elizabeth Edwards (aka Chef Zabeth) as she presents the program “Gluten Free Holiday Harvest Cooking” on Monday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m. She will share recipes and ideas for stuffing, pies, green bean casserole and more. She’ll give tips and answer questions from all who need to eat gluten free or cook for someone who needs gluten free food. Learn about where to find things, best prices, how to get started, keeping it simple, etc. – and taste samples as well!
Elizabeth has developed and taught numerous classes in Natural Food preparation and cooking and has done some one-on-one teaching as well. She has presented cooking classes at Whole Foods and helped educate the public on gluten free products.
Since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2004 Elizabeth converted all her cooking classes to helping newly diagnosed patients adapt to the gluten free diet keeping a healthful note. She is trained as a personal chef/instructor and believes that her unique experience with the Natural Gourmet Institute combined with her personal Celiac Disease gives her a unique insight into the physical and emotional challenges that can come with the diagnosis.
Elizabeth graduated from the Natural Gourmet Cookery School and Institute of Culinary Arts in New York City and is a graduate of the Culinary Business Academy in New Mexico. In the past, she has worked on the board of the Celiac Disease Foundation in Phoenix and as a restaurant guide for the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness.
This program is free and open to the public and will be held in the Pella Public Library Meeting Room.
