The Pella Christian Eagle varsity football team earned the Class 1A District 7 title with a 49-21 in over Interstate 35 Friday night.
Dan Jungling had a superb night on offense, one that saw him throw for 226 yards and a touchdown, as well as rushing for another 155 yards and five more scores. He had a kickoff return for 24 additional yards, giving him 405 total yards in the game.
Jungling’s favorite target was Bennett Spronk, who had 134 yards the touchdown on the night.
Luke Mulder led the defense with 11.6 tackles, including two tackles for a loss. Jungling and Caden Van Dyke each had an interception, which Van Dyke returned for seven yards. Jase Amelse and Kyle Branderhorst each had a fumble recovery as well.
The Eagles will travel Friday night to take on Van Meter in the first round of the playoffs. Van Meter was able to defeat the Eagles 40-6 in week two. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
