The Twin Cedars varsity football team will host Gladbrook-Reinbeck Friday night, a team that is on a four-game winning streak.
The Sabers have had their struggles this season, as they stand at 1-6. The team’s small roster has added to their woes. Head Coach Cam Parker tells the Tribune that he will have 13 players available to play Friday night.
But Parker and his team plan to set those factors aside to focus on this game.
“Our keys to being successful this week is to make the plays we can,” Parker said. “We will be attacking them on the boundaries as the defense they play typically leaves that part of the field open. We will have to methodically move the ball down the field as they do not make mistakes on defense.”
Parker has rarely seen Gladbrook-Reinbeck miss a tackle. He added, “Defensively we will have to be monsters at getting off blocks. They are not fancy in what they do but they are very sound at the fundamentals of football.”
Twin Cedars has amassed more total yards of offense this season (1,874) than these opponents (1,762). Both teams’ defenses have six interceptions.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
