PC volleyball downs Newton

The Pella Christian High School varsity volleyball team defeated Little Hawkeye Conference foe Newton on the road Tuesday night, 3-1.

The Eagles took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-14, respectively. Newton won the third 25-22, but the Eagles bounced back in the fourth, 25-15.

Molly Bolt was strong again for Pella Christian, racking up 17 kills, nine digs and two aces – 9/10 serving. The Eagles had 48 kills on the night, with Avery Amelse adding 10, Sarah Gritters 9 and Emma Dunsbergen 8.

Amelse went 16/17 serving with an ace and had four digs; Gritters, Lizzy Posthuma, and Anna Van Zee each had two aces. Natalie Harrill led the team in aces with three, and went 15/15 serving. Postuma had 41 assists.

The Eagles will hit the court again Monday night, on the road at Oskaloosa.
