Knoxville volleyball at 14-0

The Knoxville Panther volleyball team is 14-0 this season, following a win of the Keokuk Tournament on Saturday. As of this post, the Panthers are the only undefeated team in Class 4A.

Knoxville went into Saturday’s tournament after downing South Central Conference rival Davis County 3-0 Tuesday night. In that game, the Panthers won 25-20, 25-20 and 25-12.

The home crowd in the KHS gym saw Amy Sullivan go 24/27 serving with three aces, 13 digs and two kills. Marley McKay had 24 assists, a kill, nine digs and went 15/16 serving with an ace. Katie Keitges had 14 kills, 11 digs, went 6/6 serving with an ace. Maggie Wilkins was also perfect in the game against the Mustangs, with 17 digs and an assist.

When the Panthers rolled into Keokuk, they first took on Central Lee. Central Lee managed to give Knoxville its only set loss in Saturday’s tournament. After the Panthers took the first set 12-16, Central Lee won the second 21-11. Knoxville came back to win the third 15-7.

In the Panthers’ second game, they downed Columbus 21-11 and 21-9. New London fell to Knoxville 22-20 and 21-19, and Holy Trinity Catholic lost 25-23 and 21-14.

On Saturday alone, the team collected 199 digs. Keitges had 33 kills, Tara Uitermarkt 21 and Reilly Finarty 20. McKay had 72 assists. Wilkins had 57 digs, Keitges 40, Sullivan 32 and Finarty 27.

At this point in the season, McKay has 264 assists, 62 digs and 10 blocks. Wilkins has 196 digs, Keitges 124 and Sullivan 103. Keitges has 128 kills and 12 aces. Uitermarkt has 72 kills and Finarty 60. Sullivan leads the team in aces with 27, followed by McKay and Lauren Micetich with 15.

The Panthers travel to Eddyville Tuesday night to take on E-B-F in another important SCC matchup.
