The Pleasantville Trojan volleyball team is 6-2 on the season, following three victories and the title at the Twin Cedars Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Trojans downed host Twin Cedars 2-0, Ankeny Christian 2-0 and Murray 2-1 to win the tournament.
Against the Lady Sabers, Pleasantville won 21-12 and 21-13. Amber McKinney was 7/8 serving with three aces, three digs and two kills. Ali Adreon had 11 assists, two kills, was 8/8 serving with two aces. Breanna Benge was 5/6 serving with two aces and six digs. Sam Entinger was 8/8 serving with two aces, 10 kills, three digs and a block.
In the Ankeny Christian game, the Trojans won 21-16 in both sets. Benge went 7/7 with three aces and eight digs. Adreon had 16 assists, two digs and an ace. Noa Sample went 7/8 serving with an ace. Entinger had 11 kills and five digs. Lauren Cook had five digs.
For the final game for the Trojans, they beat Murray 21-10, then lost 21-19 before coming back and taking the third set, 15-9. McKinney was 15/15 serving with six aces, two kills and four digs. Adreon was 8/9 serving with three aces, 25 assists and a kill. Smith was 10/11 with two aces, a dig and a kill. Entinger was 4/5 serving with an ace, 21 kills and seven digs.
“The girls did a great job of executing, particularly in serve-receive and serving,” Head Coach Joel Allman said. “They also played with pretty good energy and perseverance. Now our job is to continue getting better from this experience.”
The Trojans are back on the road Tuesday night (Sept. 17) at Panorma, before hosting a triangular with Chariton and I-35 Thursday night.
