Panthers roll through Saydel

Senior Ben Olson led the Knoxville Panther defense to a shutout over Saydel Friday night, as Olson had 8.5 tackles and two solo sacks in the 56-0 black and gold win.

In all, the Panthers had five sacks in the game, with fellow seniors Blaise Hubler, Wyatt Darnell and Cooper Worth each adding one. Several Knoxville defenders were credited with multiple tackles on the night.

Mike Hudson, who was named Channel Five’s player of the week for his performance, had a 30-yard pick six for the Panthers and a fumble recovery on defense. Offensively, he had a 53-yard touchdown reception and 62 yards overall.

Junior Keegan Cox added two more interceptions for the Panthers, 50 return yards and two rushing touchdowns. One of those touchdowns was good for 53 yards. He had 107 yards on the ground total.

Kieren Nichols was 5/5 passing with 84 yards and a touchdown. He added three more rushing touchdowns and 111 yards on the ground. Olson added one more rushing touchdown for Knoxville.

“We played well in all three phases of the game and got in every player,” Head Coach Eric Kellar said. “The kids played hard and had a lot of fun.  We were disciplined and physical all night.”
The Panthers are 2-0 on the season and travel to face fellow undefeated Centerville Friday night.
