There’s always something happening at Lake Red Rock! Check out these upcoming activities:
Friday, August 16- Red Rock: The Town Beneath the Lake – 7:00 p.m. at the Red Rock Visitor Center
The town of Red Rock was a thriving, industrious community and home to many pioneering people. Once hopeful that the Red Rock Dam would save them from the Des Moines River’s frequent flooding, it eventually sealed their fate.
Sat., August 17- Building the Red Rock Dam – 10:00 a.m. at the Red Rock Visitor Center
In March, 1969, the Des Moines River Valley changed forever as the newly constructed Red Rock Dam closed its gates for the first time, creating the reservoir we know as Lake Red Rock. Join a park ranger to learn how the dam was built and how it changed the Red Rock area.
Sat., August 17-Let’s Go Paddling! – 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Roberts Creek East Boat Ramp
Enjoy the chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day! Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be! (You must be at least 10 years old to use kayaks. Life jackets will be provided. Programs may be cancelled if inclement weather and wind conditions.)
Programs are free of charge and registration is not needed. Outdoor activities will be cancelled if raining or inclement weather. For more information, contact Lake Red Rock at (641) 828-7522 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
