The Knoxville Community School District, in partnership with the Knoxville Wellness Committee, will host a Back to School Bash today, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Knoxville High School, located at 1811 W. Madison Street.
This year, the school district is offering a $5 per student discount for families who complete the registration process before August 2.
The Back to School Bash, which has become a hallmark in the school district community recently, allows parents and guardians to register their children for school, as well as fulfill sports physical and immunization requirements.
“As a school district, we continue to seek new ways to make the registration process easier and a little more affordable for our families, and this year’s discount for getting forms in by August 2 is another way we are working to do that,” said Cassi Pearson, KCSD superintendent. “We look forward to another great Back to School Bash, which has become a fantastic way to kick off the school year in our community. The first day of school will be here before we know it.”
The event will feature free food and drink provided by the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative. Many of the district’s community partners will also be on hand to answer questions and share information on their various programs and services.
Participants and contributors to the event include the Knoxville Wellness Committee, Knoxville: Food Youth Initiative, Knoxville Hospital & Clinics, Knoxville Elementary PTO, Knoxville Public Library, Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Recreation Center, Amerigroup, Freedom for Youth, First United Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, Helping Hands, Hy-Vee dietitian, Integrative Counseling, Iowa State Extension, Iowa State Patrol, Marion County Public Health, Miss Mary Strawberry, Monday Morning Panthers, and The Well.
