The Iowa Medical Cannabidiol Board will meet Aug. 2 at 10 a.m., at the Iowa Laboratory Facility on the Ankeny DMACC Campus, 2240 DMACC Blvd.

On the board’s agenda are adding podiatrists to the list of physicians eligible to prescribe cannabis oil to patients.

There are a number of conditions being asked for board consideration to be added to the list of those that qualify for medical cannabis. They include mental illnesses including post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic anxiety, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and opioid dependency.

Iowa currently limits the level of THC (the ingredient in marijuana that provides the high) to 3 percent. The board will review the THC limits in other states.

The full agenda can be read here. The meeting is open to the public, and there is a place on the agenda for anyone to provide comments for up to three minutes. Following this meeting, the board is not scheduled to meet again until November.
