The Pleasantville Trojan softball team lost a home playoff game to intra-county rival Pella Christian Wednesday night, thus ending an outstanding 25-12 season.
PC won the game 4-2. In first inning, the Eagles’ first three batters each singled, before a double brought all three home. Starting pitcher Abby DeJoode only gave up one more hit in the game, a one-out single in the fifth that turned into Pella Christian’s fourth run following an error.
The Trojans threatened in the first and the fourth, but both rallies ended on the base paths. Josie Sowers and Amber McKinney reached in the sixth when Makenzie McGriff nailed the sacrifice fly.
Sowers went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases in the game. Pleasantville had only six hits in the game.
On the mound, DeJoode struck out seven, walked four and gave up five hits.
