The Southern Iowa Honor Flight is expected to take off on Sept. 10. Applications and donations for the flight are being accepted.
“Our goal is to take as many WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans to Washington, D.C., to see their respective memorials in their lifetime,” organizer Don Zoutte said in a press release. “There have been several flights already, but we felt the need to concentrate on Southern Iowa since most of the other hubs concentrate on Central and Northern Iowa. We have already begun receiving Applications from Southern Iowa.”
Zoutte hopes to attract veterans from Iowa’s three southernmost tiers of counties.
