The American Legion Post in Pleasantville will host its centennial celebration on Saturday, June 15, from 1-4 p.m.
The Post was formed the Legion’s inaugural year. It has remained very active in the community, handing out Christmas baskets and thousands of dollars in scholarships every year.
Over the past few years, with renovations to the Pleasantville Memorial Hall, the Legion has collected hundreds of photos of veterans from the Pleasantville area. This includes a separate Wall of Honor that features the many Pleasantville service members who gave their lives in service to our country.
Dennis Murphy with the Post reports that Saturday’s event is just another way of thanking the community for their continued support of the Post, and veterans overall. There will be cake, ice cream, memories to share and more. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
