Knoxville volleyball opens SCC play Tuesday night


Panther volleyball is coming home Tuesday night, Aug. 28, ready to open South Central Conference play against Centerville.

The netters’ season thus far has been impressive, with the team’s only loss to Oskaloosa in three sets at the season-opening Carlisle triangular. Even in the loss, Lauren Micetich was 11/11 serving with two aces. Katie Keitges had five kills, 12 digs; Reilly Finarty had nine kills; Marley McKay had 20 assists; Tara Uitermarkt had four kills and Maggie Wilkins racked up 23 digs.

After falling to Oskaloosa, the Panthers came right back to defeat the Wildcats on their home court in three sets. Maggie Wilkins had 27 digs and went 13/13 serving. Kelsey Ryan was 16/17 serving with two aces. Keitges had seven kills, 10 digs; Finarty had 11 kills, McKay had 21 assists, Uitermarkt had three kills and Molly Devin had three kills.

The Panthers then went to Newton on Aug. 21 to take the Cardinals’ home tournament from them. They defeated PCM in two sets (21-3, 21-11), Newton in two sets (21-7, 21-11) and Saydel in two sets (21-5, 21-4). Highlights are listed below.
