The ball fields in Pleasantville will soon look a little nicer and be more handicap accessible, following some approved projects.
The first is that the City intends to pave the parking lot near the fields. A $400,000 grant from the State Revolving Fund will cover the majority of the costs of this project. TK Concrete was awarded the contract for this work.
The City is also planning to do more landscaping and improve sidewalks around the fields. City Manager Joe Mrstik reports that construction was expected to begin the week of May 7. Much of the cost of the landscaping will be paid through the City’s Local Option Sales and Services Tax fund. Cost is estimated to be around $220,000 and Miners Hardscape has been awarded the bid.
Mrstik added that the City has applied for grants from Prairie Meadows and the Marion County Community Foundation to help recoup some of the costs. The look of the project will be along the hill. Concrete walls will be terraced, with planting areas between the concrete.
“It will be a very nice project,” Mrstik said.
